Start with the intended use

Flyers, invitations, business cards and posters serve different purposes and do not all need the same paper. Consider whether the print will be handled frequently or displayed on a wall.

The thickness changes the feel

Stiffer card stock gives small cards a more substantial feel. Lighter paper may make sense for material to be distributed or larger quantities.
