Print File Requirements
- File format: print-ready PDF
- Bleed: 3 mm on every edge
- Safety margin: keep logos, names, and contact details at least 3–5 mm from the finished card edge
- Resolution: at least 300 dpi at final size
- Colour mode: CMYK is the recommended colour space
- Double-sided cards: submit the front and back as separate pages in the same PDF file
If a background or image extends to the card edge, continue it all the way to the edge of the bleed area. This prevents white slivers from appearing along the edges after cutting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Business Cards
Which business card size should I choose?
90 × 50 mm is the common size in Finland. For international use, or if you're looking for a credit-card-sized format, 85 × 55 mm is a good choice.
How much bleed does a business card need?
Add 3 mm of bleed to every edge of your file. For example, a 90 × 50 mm card's file size including bleed is 96 × 56 mm.
How close to the edge can text be placed?
Keep names, logos, QR codes, and contact details at least 3–5 mm from the finished card edge. Also avoid very thin border frames, since small cutting variations become visible on them easily.
Can I design a business card in Canva?
Yes. Choose the correct finished size, add bleed, and download the file as a print-ready PDF. Any images or backgrounds that reach the edge should extend all the way to the edge of the bleed area.
Can one order include several different names?
Yes. Each person's name is its own print version. Submit each version as a separate, clearly named PDF file.
When should I choose a folded business card?
A folded card is a good fit when you need extra space — for example for services, pricing, appointment details, a loyalty stamp card, or a QR code.
Which material works best for a business card you write on?
A matte, unlaminated cardstock works best for cards that will be written on by hand. A laminated surface can be difficult to write on with a regular pen.
Can a business card be printed double-sided?
Yes. Submit the front and back as separate pages in the same PDF file, in the correct reading order.
